In brief

A Cainiao consolidation notice says the storage policy changes on October 1, 2026, using Beijing time. It applies to every parcel then in storage, regardless of arrival date: free storage drops from 90 to 60 days; the normal rate after day 60 becomes CNY 2 per day; and from October 15 through December 15, 2026, every parcel stored for more than 60 days is charged CNY 5 per day. The unchanged rule starts the disposal process when a parcel reaches 120 days in storage.

What changes on October 1

The new policy takes effect on October 1, 2026, Beijing time, and applies to all parcels in storage on that date. The main change is a shorter free-storage period: 60 days instead of 90.

Outside the peak window, a parcel stored for more than 60 days is charged CNY 2 per day. The former policy charged CNY 1 per day only after 90 days, so both the waiting period and overstay rate change.

Why the peak-period rate becomes CNY 5 per day

The notice says overseas sales events are expected to raise warehouse arrivals from mid-October. To improve space turnover and protect receiving, sorting and dispatch capacity, long-stored parcels are subject to a temporary storage adjustment fee.

The peak window runs from October 15 through December 15, 2026, Beijing time. During that window, every parcel stored for more than 60 days is charged CNY 5 per day. This is the uniform rate for that period, not an extra CNY 5 added to the normal CNY 2 rate.

How parcels received before October 1 transition

On October 1, the system uses each parcel’s actual storage-day count to determine whether it has passed the new 60-day free period. A parcel already over 60 days starts accruing CNY 2 per day on October 1; fees are not backdated to its 61st day.

A parcel still within 60 days keeps the remaining free days and starts accruing fees only after that period ends. Parcels received on or after October 1 follow the new policy immediately.

  • Already over 60 days on October 1: charging begins that day, without backdating
  • Still within 60 days on October 1: remaining free days continue
  • Received on or after October 1: the 60-day free period applies
  • Use the App’s actual storage-day count, fee details and parcel status for the final decision

How the two notice examples are calculated

These are the two examples from the notice. Totals stop when the parcel reaches 120 days and the disposal process begins. All dates use Beijing time.

The July 20 parcel remains free through September 30 under the old 90-day policy. It starts at CNY 2 per day on October 1, then changes to CNY 5 per day when the peak window starts on October 15.

The August 8 parcel does not pass 60 days until October 8, so October 8 to 14 is charged at CNY 2 per day and October 15 onward at CNY 5 per day.

What Canada users should do now

The notice directly advises users with parcels already stored for more than 38 days to consolidate and dispatch them before the new policy starts when possible. The 38-day figure is an action prompt, not a new free-storage or charging threshold.

  1. Check each parcel’s actual warehouse arrival date and storage-day count in the Cainiao App.
  2. Prioritize parcels near or beyond 60 days, then verify item review and available routes.
  3. Compare the benefit of waiting for more parcels with the October 15 peak surcharge risk.
  4. Before consolidating, confirm the Canadian address, chargeable weight, route restrictions, storage fees and final total.
  5. Keep your phone, email and WhatsApp details current and review notification preferences in the App.

Source and final checks

This article is based on six screenshots of the Cainiao consolidation storage-policy notice supplied by the user and rewritten for Canada. Policy figures, dates, examples and the 120-day disposal rule follow the notice; interface images are Canada-localized illustrations, not live App screens.

Charges depend on the actual storage-day count, system billing events and parcel status. Before acting, open the Cainiao App and review the current storage-fee details. If they differ from this guide, rely on the App and support’s answer for that parcel.
